World Environmental Day

SHALAR Foundation proudly celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2024 at Thutibar Village with the active participation of 50 community members, including youth, women, and local leaders. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and promote sustainable practices among tribal communities. To inspire collective action towards conserving the environment by promoting eco-friendly practices such as tree plantation, reduction in plastic usage, and sustainable farming. A discussion was conducted highlighting the growing threat of environmental degradation. Participants were educated about the harmful effects of deforestation, chemical fertilizers, plastic waste, and pollution. They were encouraged to adopt greener lifestyles and take personal responsibility for environmental conservation. As a symbolic and practical gesture, saplings were planted by participants to reinforce the importance of reforestation. Everyone pledged to nurture the planted trees and contribute to a greener future. The foundation emphasized that “If the environment survives, the future will survive.” The indiscriminate use of natural resources and environmental neglect can have irreversible consequences. The importance of preserving the earth for future generations was a central theme. The celebration of World Environment Day was a step forward in SHALAR Foundation’s mission to build environmentally conscious and resilient tribal communities. The foundation will continue to conduct awareness programs and practical interventions to protect and nurture our natural environment.
