Sustainable Holistic Action For Livelihood Alternatives And Raise (SHALAR) Foundation is a new born organization focused on working with tribal communities. While the organization is new, its mission is to address the needs and challenges faced by tribal population. This includes areas like education, healthcare, economic empowerment and cultural preservation. The foundation aims to collaborate with tribal communities to create sustainable solutions and improve their overall well-being.

The Foundation primarily focuses on rural communities and small and marginal farmers, with special attention to sustainable agriculture, natural farming, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation and community-based development.

Our History

Brief Description of the Organization

  • Mr. Pramod Kumar Panda holds masters in Sociology degree, worked for 14 years in 3 different NGO’s before initiating this “Sustainable Holistic Action for Livelihood Alternatives and Rise foundation” (SHALAR) in Rayagada district of Odisha state.
  • He has witnessed firsthand struggle of rural poor Tribal’s living in Dry land, Rainfed areas as very small and marginal farm holders, experiencing impact of serious negative climate changes on agribased livelihoods and forcing them to migrate to nearby states as forced distress migrate workers. So, he founded “SHALAR” foundation to work for Sustainable Holistic Action for Livelihood Alternatives and Rise.
  • He has grassroots experience in conducting Training Sessions, workshops and demonstrations to educate tribal farmers about zero budget natural farming (ZBNF) Principles and Techniques.
  • Experienced in facilitating conservation of indigenous seed varieties and promoting seed exchange among tribal farmers to preserve biodiversity and ensure access to locally adopted seeds.
  • Experienced in providing guidance on soil health improvement techniques and naturals pest and disease management methods. Experienced in managing and advocating for indigenous cow, goat, chicken and fish breeds.
